Android Central Question
I bought a Simple Mobile branded "ZTE Max Blue" phone last November. It shipped with version 6 of Android.
This week, the phone updated itself from an OTA update, in the middle of the night, without prompting me, to version 7 of Android.
Ever since the update, the screen will dim and then turn off after 10-15 seconds of inactivity. This does not happen in apps that play video like YouTube. But the problem happens when at the home screen, when using the web browser, or just about any other app.
Under: Settings -> Display -> Sleep
I have set the value to high numbers such as 1 minute or longer. These values seem to be ignored by the phone, and it makes no difference.
Under: Settings -> Security -> Screen Lock -> Automatically lock timeout
I have set the value higher here too. These values seem to be ignored by the phone too, and it makes no difference.
I have started the phone in "Safe Mode" by holding both volume buttons while booting it up. The phone displays "Safe Mode" in the lower-left corner of the screen. This also makes no difference. The problem still happens when booted in safe mode.
I have tried "Force Stopping" all of the apps on the phone, one by one. The problem is still happening.
Can anyone help with this? Can anyone confirm that the OTA update to android 7 on their SimpleMobile branded ZTE Max Blue has this problem too? Have you found a resolution? This issue is driving me crazy. Thanks.
