Best way to start with a brand new TB?

Hi! I just placed an order for my new TB. I am an iPhone user now, so I am familiar with jailbreaking that system.

I use a Mac, so I plan to follow the sticky as to rooting with a Mac.

I am confused though, I see references to these three actions:

Rooting
Custom ROM
Custom Firmware

What is the difference? Are all three required? I am looking to get better battery life and to remove the bloat.

Thanks,
BC

Ah, thanks. So after rooting, you can move bloatware to the SD card, you dont need a custom ROM for that? What kinds of things will custom ROMs do? And what about the kernel?

You can get rid of the bloat ware by rooting, customs roms are roms from developers that have taken androids code and added there tweaks to it, most of the time custom roms are better than the stock one. Kernels impact things like battery and overclocking, a kernel is the base of a rom.
