Calendar icon will not go away!

I had several things on the calendar from the beginning of July until a couple of days ago.
I'm on vacation, so I'm not even looking at it or using it.

Anyway, for some reason, even though I have no events scheduled, the calender icon will not go away at the top of the phone. Why???

I'd like to remove the icon!

Any help is appreciated. It's driving me nuts!!!


EDIT: I checked Notifications, and an event from the 14th was still listed. I deleted it, but the icon remained until rebooting. thanks anyway...

You should have to go into that event and click "Dismiss All", I believe...
