Soft key lighting

Is there a way to make the softkey backlighting shut off when in a functioning app in the current froyo builds? I am using a night theme on the nook app, but the always on soft keys defeats the whole point if being able to use a dark screen theeme. Anyone know how to change it?

I did notice you need to reflash the fix whenever you change ROMs or Themes. No big deal on that.

I am sure with the mod being out there that it is just a matter of time until it gets incorporated into a rom permanently
