Just found a new software update via KIES. Couldn't find a changelog, but I am not rooted, so I went ahead. Update to build VRUDMI1, but still 4.2.2

You find any differences yet? I got excited when I saw Galaxy S4 and software update :\ Hopefully in the next couple weeks...

Just ran teh update, and don't see any major changes yet, but in my app drawer I now 2 new apps "Optical Reader", and "Play Games". The games one is self explanatory, and I have not opened up the Optical Reader. Will report back later.

Nothing jumps out at me. Maybe all under the hood?

Looks like you may be right...

XDA already has the factory image up, and this quote kinda jumps out...

So far I see a lot of Knox related stuff.

As an IT professional who has manage company devices, a lot of the Knox features intrigue me, but then there's the part of me that feels like a lot of these Knox components are negatively affecting the large group of us that never plan to use our personal devices in an corporate environment. Seems to me there should be a happy-medium or at least an opt-in option... Or, maybe Knox has nothing to do with how locked down these devices have become?

Of course the standard disclaimer about unknown effects of root access should be considered before installing this, or any, update.

I looked at the Optical Reader app. It is a Samsung app that can read text and QR codes. If you point it at a word, it comes up with a dictionary definition for the word.

My ME7 is rooted and KNOX status is not present in the firmware I have.
I have Xposed Framework and some custom modules so I don't need a ROM, at least for now.
Removed the persistent WiFi nag in the status, etc.

I don't know what this OTA does but if you are rooted on ME7, you should probably stay away.

we can't help unless we know what the symptoms are and what you did before they occurred.

The update has Blocking Mode! I downloaded the app Quick shortcut maker. Search for "mode" under settings.

The S3's have 95% of getting the update before the S4's. Wouldn't surpise me if Samsung waited until 4.4 was released and they put the S4 on 4.4 instead of 4.3. like how Samsung waited for 4.3 to come out to put on the S3 when 4.2.2 was around.

Good find! I was able to find it with your suggestion. I wonder if a factory reset is required to get the toggle to show, like the Wi-Fi toggle with the last update.

Good question. However I don't think the toggle shows up on the Note 2 and if I remember correctly using the shortcut app is the only way to use Blocking Mode on it because of Verizon.

I don't know for sure but maybe they have received a software update that enabled the toggle on the Verizon N2, but to start with for sure you just had to use the shortcut app. That's why I decided to try to find it on the S4 that way.

I downloaded the quick shortcut app but every time I go to new shortcut I get a blank screen. Is there a trick to seeing the shortcuts you can add?

Make sure you press "Try" to verify you are creating the right shortcut. Then rename it sometime besides Settings (which is what it is defaulting as the name for me). Other than that no trick should be necessary as far as I know.
