Keeping Unlimited Data - Switching from a SIM to a Micro SIM

My brother had his Droid Razr ran over by a semi, so temporarily he bought a HTC Droid Incredible, and used his old SIM card and SD card.

He just received a Moto X he bough off of Swappa, which has a Micro SIM card slot, so he can't use his old SIM card. He wants to keep his unlimited data, of course, but a friend of his bought a Moto X off-contract as well and when he got a new SIM card he lost his unlimited data.

Basically, I'm wondering what the process is for him to keep the Moto X, buy a micro SIM card, transfer the information from the SIM card to the micro SIM card, and keep his unlimited data.

Thanks in advance!

Just cut it. By the way Moto X uses nano sim. As do most(all?) high end flagships released this year. So it's a good thing he'll only have to do this once.

Yup, cut it. YouTube has guides to do it with a scissors. If he can wait a few days and has a few dollars to spare, order a cutter from Amazon or eBay, such as this one.

Aside from that, if he bought his Moto X off contract, he should be able to take it in to a Verizon store and they should set him up with a new nano SIM card without him losing his unlimited data.

If you walk in to a corporate store they will give you the appropriate Sim for free as long as you take the device with you. If you take one of their 2yr upgrades or pick a newer plan then they will take your UDP away.
