No way to purchase music?

Have a nexus 7 gen 2 running latest kit kat. I also live in Canada. I open play music and the app loads fine, but my only option is to connect via USB. Went to settings and manually connected my account and still my only option is to connect the tablet to a PC. Anyone know what's up?
