HTC10 - Notification Access resets for Android Auto

I have an issue with the connection of my HTC 10 with my car over Android Auto.
AA has the ability to read your whatsapp messages over voice output.
This works very well for me as long as Android Auto has notification access (settings --> sound....).
Unfortunately after every connection with the car the notification access of Android Auto gets unchecked automatically.
So I have to switch it on before everytime using AA in the car - this sucks and is not really usable.

Has anybody a clue what could be the problem? Is it a HTC 10 topic or Android 6? Or maybe Android Auto?

Unknown. It has been this way since lollipop, and most likely intended that way as Android Auto doesn't want you reacting to your phone while driving.

With that said there are plenty of messaging apps that work well with Android Auto that don't require this setting. Maybe the WhatsApp devs needs to update their app.
