Wheb I delete photos and videos my memory stays the same

Hi android users

This is my first thread and I need help, I am using a Samsung galaxy 3 mini and my photos and videos are on 1.21GB. I have hardly any photos and well because I have deleted so many, but the memory doesn't go down when I delete some, sometimes it can even go up 0.1? I delete the photos on Gallery, Photos and Dropbox as well as some of the videos.? Why is it doing this and if you can please answer I am going on holiday today and I need memory space to download songs.
