Change ringtone for notifications

I am trying to upload a new ringtone to change the one (ones) that samsung has programed into the samsung galaxy note 3 for notifications. I was able to do this with my original note 1 but the note 3 is totally different. Can anyone help?

Welcome to Android Central! If you use a file manager (like ES File Explorer) to move the mp3 or wav file to the Notifications folder, it ought to detect it the next time you go to select a notification tone.
