How to Remove Pics from Dead Samsung Note 1?

My Samsung Notes battery went completely dead, at 22 months, and still on contract! I want to remove some photos from it. I tried using a micro USB cord but the phone is dead. How do I get my laptop to recognize the phone and get the photos off?

Welcome to Android Central! Is this a Note phone or tablet? If it's a phone, can you try a new battery?

If a new battery doesn't work, or isn't possible, and the device just won't power up, then you'd need to bring the device to some kind of specialist to try to recover data.
