Google/Galaxy S4 Contact Duplicates

Why do my contacts seem to duplicate themselves? O can go to my Google contact list, do a merge and delete and come back in half an housr and find some of the same contacts duplicated again. They almost seem to grow! Help?

Welcome to Android Central! Are those duplicate contacts also associated with the Google account, or perhaps from some other account like Facebook or LinkedIn? Are you certain there's only one Google account associated with the phone?

Not sure how to answer your questions? I believe it is my Google account. I only know of one Google account associated with my phone.

Go to your contact, select your menu button, then look for Contacts to Display. That will list the emails and files that are providing the contacts being fed in.

Go to Settings>Accounts--are all of the accounts there familiar? Select Google--do you only see your account listed?

And as KeepItReal mentioned, in the People app, tap Menu, then Contacts to Display. Do all of the groups or accounts look familiar?
