How do you set up a voicemail password of the s5?

When I call voicemail, it asks me to input my password. I haven't selected a password, and I can't figure out what to enter. I've tried my phone number, the actual number of the voicemail (that was dialed - this was already set up on my phone when I bought it).
I've looked at the tutorials. There seems to be a password for voicemail already set up. What that password is, is a mystery to me. I can't find a way to bypass it. Thanks.
