How do I root my Sony z c6603 Kingo Android?

Rooting Sony z c6603 Kingo Android

Hi, I tried to root my sony z last night, I down loaded the it to the computer, connected the phone by usb cable and the phone did say it was rooting, but this went on for about an hour and nothing much happened.
Question, does the phone need a sim card in it?
Should i switch off the wifi and data?
I really need to root the phone tonight as i am away running and i need to use an app, Back county Navigator, all the maps (50gb) are on the memory card and with Kitkat i can not access the map info.
Is it possible for some one to root my phone remotely? really need help please.

Unless the app needs to check your device then download software or hack to gain root, then no, you shouldn't need to be on data or have a sim card once you've downloaded all the necessary files.
