I have a Galaxy S4, why don't I have sound when emails arrive?

Have a Galaxy S4, have no sound when email arrives.

Updated settings, my device, sound, notifications to full, still no sound as email arrives. This is a critical need.

Welcome to Android Central! Which email app? Open that app, tap Menu, then Settings, and look for the notification settings within the email app. Make sure notifications are turned on and the proper tone is selected.

I am using the email app on the phone. With Microsoft Exchange Active Sync. When opening the mail app, selecting menu, settings there is not a notification button to select. In settings mode, sound etc., Notifications has a sound selected. I have tested this function on watched the email come in without any sound. Yes sound is up all the way in all areas.

In the Email app, when you tap Menu>Settings, do you see your various email accounts listed? What happens when you tap the account--do you get further settings for that account? That's where notifications would be.
