I forgot my lock pattern and my gmail password and my phone won't hard reset, what do I do?

i forgot my lock pattern and my gmail password and my phone won't hard reset

after trying different patterns i clicked on forgot password but i couldn't remember my gmail password so i tried hard resetting by pressing d home button and power button but it didn't work so i tried volume down home button and power button it still didn't work what do i do

Hello. You don't say what phone. To reset or wipe cache the device has to be powered off.
To access recovery mode on a Samsung with volume, power and home keys, you hold volume UP plus Power and Home keys until you get a vibration and the recovery screen. You scroll down to the factory reset option with volume and select with the Power button. Samsung will make you select from a list again as a precaution against inadvertent selection.

Google Account Recovery will get you back your gmail password.
