why wont my samsung s2 go past logo screen?

i have tried the reset nd it just vibrates nd does the same thing. goes to logo screen then shuts off. I even got a new battery same thing. p.s. its a hand me down phone from my sister.

Welcome to Android Central! How long did you charge up the new battery before trying to power on again? Make sure you charge it for at least 6-8 hours before trying to power the phone on.
