Ever since the newest update, my HTC M8's performance has been falling behind

I have an HTC One m8. I recently updated to Android 5.0 lollipop and I have experienced performance issues. Some of my apps will no longer open for more than a few seconds or crash when I go to a certain page. There's one app I use (reddit) and now when I try to summon the keyboard (I use SwiftKey) the app crashes immediately. It also crashes when I go to certain subreddits. Also on some occasions of I open an imgur link my phone bricks and I have to wait about 5 minutes to reset it. I also use an app called slidejoy that puts ads on my home screen and I get small amounts of money. Now I cannot open it to log on without it crashing.

This has been happening on other apps as well, but there are my most used so it concerns me.

There are many reports of this same problem. It seems the culprit was the last update of Android System Webview. Uninstalling the update fixed the problem for some of them. Take a look here.
