Welcome to the forums. What needs to be kept in mind is that these phones are now mini computers. Android needs a fair amount of stuff always running to operate as a computer.

Android differs from Windows in terms of RAM; Android likes having RAM full. it helps keep apps opening smoothly, as opposed to digging them from memory all the time.
