My Samsung Galaxy s4 mini has no LED indicator?

Ive had my phone since May and my mom has the regular s4. I came to realize that hers has an LED light in the front of her phone for her notifications and such. I went to my settings to get one as well, but could not find a way. In her settings there is an LED indicator button. I dont have that setting at all. Ive tried all the apps and still have had no LED notifications. Do i need a certain update that I havent received or is my phone just somehow different? Please help!
