Cannot create Gmail contact on my phone

Hi Community,

I have 90 contacts on my Gmail account, all synced with my Android phone. As of yesterday, I have noticed that I can't create a new contact on the phone. When I tap on the "+" sign, it says:

"Your new contact will not be backed up. Add an account that backs up contacts online?"

And when I tap on "Add Account", the only available option is "Exchange ActiveSync".

As I mentioned, my google account is already added to the phone. Gmail contacts are syncing immediately and Google Play works.

I have already tried to solve the problem by resetting the phone to factory defaults.

I have this issue on Sony Xperia X3+ running Android 5.0.2.

Thank you very much in advance.

I bet you have a Sony Xperia.... this happened to me after the upgrade to Lollipop ... :-(

Even after full reset will make it work for a short time until the basic google services are upgraded !

Sony !! Please fix this
