Locked out of Note 4

I used to use the finger swipe on my Note 4 and I forgot the password, which has resulted in me being locked out. I tried using ADM to remotely reset, but it tells me that the password on the device has been set so I do not need to use the one I use on ADM. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing wrong at the moment.
It seems Android Device Manager is closing that avenue for newer devices.
