Why does my s6 edge constantly make a random notification sound?

My S6 edge constantly makes a notification sound and sometimes will even go on for minutes at a time uninterrupted making the sound. Only silencing the phone prevents the sound but that renders all other sounds and notifications useless. ie. text or call. What is going on here?

I just bought a Note 4, and I noticed the same thing. The only thing I can think of is it is a reminder for some previous alert.
