Why does my screen randomly turn off on Galaxy Camera 2?

I have a samsung galaxy camera 2 and the screen will randomly turn off, sometimes even in the middle of using the camera and just shut off and pull the lens in like I hit the button, but I didn't. Why does it do this and how can I fix it? I use it to run my home inspection mobile app and to do my reporting on site and it's getting really annoying. Camera is brand new, have only had it for a week and it's been doing it since I got it.

Welcome to Android Central! When you power back on, does the battery have plenty of power left? Does the camera have a sleep timeout, where it'll shut down after a certain amount of idle?

If it's brand new, you probably don't want to mess around for too long, so that you don't miss the opportunity to return the camera for an exchange or refund.
