Do I need to charge galaxy S3 battery replacement 12 hours the first time?

I bought a galaxy S3 battery replacement and was told to charge it 12 hours in order to get better performance. Is it right?

From previous experience I've never noticed any improvement / decline from charging my battery before using it. Just put it in the phone and when the charge drops down charge it back up

ANY lithium battery:

Fully charge it. Use it until it drops to 10% or the phone shuts off. Repeat a total of 3 cycles.

It has nothing to do with the phone model and everything to do with lithium battery chemistry. (It's just one of many reasons we don't have lithium car batteries yet.)
