Why won't my Samsung Galaxy s6 stop saying its overheated?

I dropped my Samsung Galaxy s6 in the tub, not all the way but the bottom where the charger port and speaker is got submerged I dried it off really quick and blew into it for a few mins it was acting weird and I couldn't message without the options bar coming down so I kept turning my phone on and off and finally that stopped but now it says it's overheated and it won't stop it doesn't feel hot at all and my wallpaper is gone why would dropping it in warm tub water cause it to overheat?
