Lost contacts

[AC Question]

I was deleting contacts from my Windows phone because I wanted to send it to my mother. The only ones I didn't delete were the family ones. The same deleted contacts deleted off my new phone which was in a different part of the house. So I have 2 questions, 1, why did the contacts delete from my new phone? And how do I get them back? I back up my contacts and photos with Google. Every time I add a new contact or take a photo it's supposed to not only save on sim card but Google as well
