The 3.5mm Headphone Jack doesn't supply much power so whatever you are plugging in should have its own power source.

Use any standard 3.5 mm auxiliary cable to plug into the phone's headphone jack and the speaker's aux input jack. Make sure the phone's media volume is turned all the way up.
