What is "Dictionary" icon = 'a'

[AC Question]

In Application Manager it shows 'Dictionary' 7.41 MB, version 2.5.29 and has a brown/red icon with a white 'a' in it.
This app doesn't show in my apps, and cannot be uninstalled but could be disabled so I assume it is part of the Android operating system, perhaps for spellcheck/predictive text?

Hi, yes it's more likely linked to the keyboard you are using as many keyboards have personal dictionaries - the fact you can't uninstall it confirms it's part of the phone.
