how do i get pictures off my samsung s6 onto the computer? apps are saying its locked and it is not

i had no issues until a software upgrade to marshmallow - now i cant get any pictures off my phone to clear some space. all apps - even keis -- says the phone is locked and there is no pictures on the phone.

Are you using an external card? Can you see the card if you just plug the USB into Windows instead of Kies? The card should be listed as media. If you can see the card under "My Computer" just copy the files somewhere else.

MM has decided that External card is either media or apps. It can't be both.

S6 does not have sd cards. I think the OP may mean screen is locked so it needs to be unlocked
