How to add an email account without sync'ing the contacts

Hi experts,

When I added my outlook email account, it sync'ed the contacts as well. Even though I turned off "Sync Contacts" almost immediately after I added the account, the contacts still showed up in my contact list... Is there anyway to disable this behavior?

Or is there a way to delete the contacts sync'ed from a specific account?

I am using Samsung s7 edge.
