Phone not charging, internal circuit shot.

AC Question

A month back my phone was connected to my charger and it fell, it didn't hit the ground but remained connected to my charger, right after that incident the phone stopped charging properly it would take 3 times longer than usual to charge and the battery drained faster than usual, right after that one incident. I recently got it checked at a local repair shop and the guy said that the internal circuit was shot and repairing the phone meant replacing the entire internal circut board, is that even possible?? This is really frustrating please help. His advice was to use the phone while it lasts and then throw it away. Should I get it checked at an Official Samsung shop? I have a Galaxy S5.
