"USB for Charging" notification

AC Question

For about the last week, my phone has begun to display a "USB for Charging" notification when NOT plugged in. I have noticed that my battery is draining faster when this notification pops up. I am using the charger that came with the phone and I have Android 6.0.1 installed. Please help.
