SD card unmounts itself constantly

I have a moto g 3 which, following an upgrade to Marshmallow, is constantly unmounting the sd card. Taking the card out and reinserting it sometimes works, but then it's gone again in less than a minute. I've seen other users with a similar issue but does anyone know of a fix/if there is any word from either Android or Motorola about when they're going to sort the bug? The phone's internal memory is so small it's useless without an sd card but if you can't use an sd card in it... Paperweight, anyone?

Maybe a gentle clean of the card. I use isopropyl alcohol wipes and then polish gently with soft tissue...
