HTC Desire locked out by forgotten pin. Now what do I do.

You could factory reset but you will need to know the Google account that was used to register the device as you'll need that to sign back into THAT account after the reset.

Before attempting a factory reset, you can try going to Android Device Manager (ADM) on your computer, sign in with you Google account and try changing the password there. If that doesn't work, then you may have to factory reset.
