the bottom button icons (return, home, pages open) on my droid phone aren't working.

I may have deleted an app but not sure what app controls those buttons or how to reset them.

You may want to try doing a cache partition wipe. What specific Droid phone is this?

Also is your phone rooted? That is the only way that you could have possibly deleted a core app in the system.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this persist after a reboot? Or in Safe Mode? On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.
