Why do my pictures look blurry in texts?

I use Google Messages for my texting. When I send pictures through text, it reduces the picture quality. My pictures look terrible when I send them. I can't find anything about this issue! Please help me!

Many SMS, MMS, and various other messaging services like facebook messenger automatically convert images to another format and resize them if they are too large. This is done to prevent exceeding bandwidth limitations, as well as preserve server storage where they can. There is currently no way around this.
