Why isn't my touchscreen working?

why isnt my touchscreen working

dropped my phone in soup. got it out quickly and pulled it apart and cleaned it. at first the screen sensed my finger but I still couldn't unlock my phone. tried rice and blow drying to get moisture out. now it doesn't respond at all. phone does load up completely and I get alerted of messages and calls come in. just cant respond
