Why is it when I click on my contacts it says Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped?

Why when i click on my contacts it says " Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped"

When i click on my contacts it always says unfortunately, contacts has stopped. And it won't let me go in my contact

Do you sync your contacts to Google? If you do, go to settings-apps-all find Contact Storage, and clear its app cache and data. Reboot.
