How do I turn off predictive text on my Android tablet

Whenever I type in some text I keep getting all silly letter combinations coming up and when I try to delete them, still more random letters keep appearing

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Language & Input, select the keyboard you're using, and check its settings for Autocorrect or Predictive Text.

It also sounds like your keyboard's dictionary might have inappropriately remembered a bunch of typos. Check your personal directory in the keyboard's settings--you can edit or delete the entries that you may have inadvertently saved in the past.
