Why don't I have any sound when answering calls?

Can only hear dialling tone but no sound on connection of call

So the phone rings and you answer but get a dialtone?

What device do you have?

What carrier?

Can you make calls?

Is it certain contacts, everyone?

Is it random or does it happen all of the time, every time?

Are you indoors, outdoors, and do you have a strong signal, using a repeater, internet calling, or some other VOIP?
