How to make LAN (no Wifi) available on Android-x86-4.4-r2 when installing on PC

Good day to you all.
I am trying to install Android-x86-4.4-r2 on a PC (Core2Quad with 4 Gb RAM, 500 Gb HDisk). Installation was successful, but I configure the LAN settings, especially the proxy settings, since this LAN goes through a Wingate Server.
Is there something am doing wrong or is it simply that Android works with Wifi only ?
