I hope this is the right place to post about this.
I'm frustrated with apps having an exclusive period with a certain carrier. This annoys the heck out of me. Can someone do a story on why this phenomenon currently exists and if it will persist? I mean, I get why some vendors go exclusive with a carrier. Actually I don't, HTC and Samsung are so big, they can just start making their own phones wholesale and direct to consumer like they do their TVs and cameras. Why make them explicitly for ONE carrier?
I'm sure there are more, but Skype, Bing... Why do they cut out half of the market by closing it up like that? I would just like to hear some kind of story on that.
