Default How do I stop nag screen for 4.2 update

Just ordered 32gb Nexus 7 from Newegg with 4.1 installed.
How to I stop the anticipated nag screen for 4.2 update?

If I accidentally update, will a factory reset bring it back to 4.1?

You have to be rooted to disable the OTA update notifications. The process involves using an app (paid one called Autostarts or a free one called Autorun Manager and then disabling a Google update service.

    See these for more info:

This post at XDA details the process:
    - Install Autostarts app.
    - Go to "After Startup"
    - Scroll down until you see "Google Services Framework"
    - There should be several of them. For me it was the third one. Touch it and read the bottom of the popup to find out. It will say "Receiver com.google.android.gsf.update.SystemUpdateService. ....(you get the point)
    - Disable it. Done...
To answer your last question: no, a factory reset won't restore it to 4.1, it would still be on 4.2 after a reset. In order to revert to a older version, you'd have to download a 4.1 factory image and flash the device with it. For more on that, see this stickied thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/nex...e-restore.html

Thanks Synycalwon for very detailed answer. That Factory Image Restore looks like a can of worms to somebody
like me with limited experience. Also good to know that the factory reset would still leave it at 4.2.

The dilemma is then update to 4.2 and live with the numerous defects reported with the update or
just keep ignoring the nag screen for a couple of months and see if they come out with an update
that does not cause the reported grief.

I did read that if one did a Factory Image Restore with 4.2 image everything would be fine. But
that just looks too complicated for me.

I will say that a factory reset in my 4.1 Nexus cleared all of the problems I had with 4.2. Running well now.
