Well downloaded it from XDA... It's alright I guess nothing really exciting to make me go WOW DAMN!...

Did you have to rename the file name from XDA from this "cffb350e111c431bcd19eea86e0d0e6816950053.USER_L710_SPR_MD4_to_MK3_Update_FWD.zip" to this "update.zip" before you went into recovery to installed it?

Thanks

There seems to be a constant battery drain so far, at least for me. Anyone see notice anything from playing around for a bit?

After install i did have to uninstall reinstall a couple apps. Moved most to sd card..... no problems there.
AfTer all that reboot again. .... everything is much faster now. Few settings well need to be tweaked though. ...turn off connection optimizer. Also stock keyboard has a new auto correct that is slightly annoying.
Still playing around though. ...... overall a big improvement IMO. Did notice it's using more ram than usual.....

I had to clear the data in download manager app. I kept getting a list of like 20 previous download notifications. Other than that I'm really liking this update. All the native apps were affected in some way, either in appearance or performance or both. The lag i was getting on 4.1.2(which wasn't bad) is gone. Almost like a new phone!

Do you have the SDK tools? If so run a logcat

Put this in a batch file or run it from adb shell:

adb logcat -d -f /sdcard/logcat.txt *:V

it should in the root of sdcard. search it for http and see if you can find the url for the update file...

I'm not rooted running bone stock. For what i do with my phone root access isn't necessary. Im not linux or coding literate and i worry about deleting things i shouldnt

Just learned that music player only detects music saved on device storage. .... that sucks. It wouldn't detect my music until I copied to device music folder. ... I see no setting to change the save/destination folder

Yep LOTS of bloatware. ... Samsung print plugin. ....hp print plug in. ..... etc but most of it can be turned off. After turning off and tweaking my battery life seems to be improving. .... but it's quite tedious

I wanted to try the manual update method, but when I connect my phone to my Windows 8.1 computer, the phone states that no programs were found that were compatible. Sometimes when I connect phone, Windows isn't even recognizing the device. Other times, Windows recognizes the device and asks what I want to do and then while looking at files on the phone through the computer, the folder representing the phone simply closes.

I also noticed that there is already an update file on the sd card that I think is about 85MB in size and is from 2011. Do I want to replace that file with the new larger update.zip?
