Can you force the keyboard to appear?

Is there a way to force the keyboard to appear? Or is there a way to do a double-click? I have a company website I need to visit but it is really a Windows app and requires me to do a double click or hit return. Just tapping the entry does nothing. I've only known the keyboard to appear when there is a data entry field. I guess this is one good reason for a slider.

i think if you hold down menu for a couple of seconds the keyboard appears.

Holding the meny key down does not bring up the keyboard for me.

i saw someone posting a similar issue a while back w/ the website theknot.com, apparently the person was able to resolve this issue by using opera mini browser. http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-droid-eris/1212-pop-up-keyboard-forum-posts.html

according to one person it's the website's issue not phone issue.

I agree it is the website and not the phone. I was just hoping to find a way to force it up. I will download opera and see if that works.

Bummer again. Opera won't even show the website where the default browser will.

Well then there's Dolphin HD and Skyfire you could try - probably others.

Thanks. I've tried Dolphin but is works the same as the default browser. I just can't find a way to bring up the keyboard or simulate a double click. I will check out Skyfire.

BTW the Dolphin browser looked pretty nice.

Unfortunately Skyfire was a flop. It locked up and I had to force close it.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I've had the same issue. That's the one real advantage of a physical keyboard.

It's just hard to believe that Android won't let you have keyboard whenever you want.

I have the same problem with my company website. No mobile browsers on touch devices work on it because you have to double-click to open things. It would be really nice if the mobile browser developers would make a long-press send a double-click. Now THAT would be a selling point!
