How to clear 'other' portion of storage

Hello, is there a way to access the 'other' portion in the phones storage? Currently it is carrying 7.95 gb. I installed a file explorer but cannot seem to located the file in order to view its contents. I need to create more space in order to install the lollipop update. Thanks for any advice.

Hello and welcome to the forum. This "Other" location is not accessible by regular means. This is where your OS resides along with a few key apps and folders. You will have to reduce the size of the folder you can see and manipulate to make room for the temp folder that will be created. It will be removed when the device restarts after the update. I would find a handful of songs and vids save them to an external drive like a PC and then add them back once the update is complete.
