My status bar has lost its color, how can I get it back?

My status bar has lost its colour

I have noticed that my htc one m8 has lost the colour in the status bar. Whereas apps such as fb messenger would have a blue icon in the status bar. It is now the same white icon on a black background.

Did you accept a software update?

If you update to lollipop. Then yes all icons become white in the status bar.
