Auxiliary port is not working

I use my HTC One VX for my music in my car. Recently the auxiliary jack stopped working. Music still plays but it sounds echo-y and it seems like only half of the music is playing. Eventually it will start to fast forward through the music. The last time I had this problem there was lint stuck in the port and after I cleaned it out I didn't have any problems. Now that it is happening again I tried to replicate the process and pulled some lint out but the problem continues. The only thing I can think is that there is still some lint trapped inside but I just can't see it or get it out. Any recommendations?
