[WIP][KERNEL][ROM] Wildfire S Virgin Mobile USA

Many devices dont like repartitioning, it could be an unrecoverable brick (my optimus V for example) Ive found another solution. On a rom i saw, Jerry Scripts backside, they moved dalvik cache to the Cache partition. It went from 31 mb to 119 mb free. ill look into this one. And as of cMTD ill look into it, chat with its developers as well. also CM9 is coming out soon (christmas??) and it will be Android 4. Im gonna deffinatly port it and i am assuming it will need more room so until i know i personally wont mess with my partitions lol

I once did this with an Android phone a looong time ago... unfortunately it only worked once. The second time was more of a disaster.

I imagine you would need a specifc script to run at boot to move dalvik to cache... but until then Link2SD is a saving grace on this phone when rooted.

Exactly. its generally not a good idea. Im looking at the code and trying to get in contact with its dev.. And their actually is a change in the code i believe, not any script ive seen

I did a little poking around and can see there is only 22mb free on data so not sure what repartitioning would gain, unless of course we could shrink cache too. That has about 45mb free. In any case, do you know if ics will fit on the current data partition? Sense is so huge, so I'm assuming we should be good!

Thanks for looking into this! Love watching this take shape!

It's like as soon as I started looking into Link2sd again, development on it went wild. I think everything dalvik wise is now moved with the rest of the app. Although, thinking back, I think it was always like that...

Oh well, cheers to that being the case for all the non-sense apps at last.

mkm: looked at it and repartitoning isnt worth it: Best work around- link2SD it moves everything
Ics will fit, the full experience at that, onto the current partition map

Link2sd is awesome for this phone, i currently have 50 apps installed. It creates problems when flashing a rom, so youll have to just back up all apps with titanium backup

I think I killed mine, I decided that I wanted to go back to stock, so I grabbed the Virgin Mobile RUU and ran it...well it stopped at 22% and my phone buzzed 3 times and it will not boot. If you press power, or power and volume down all you get is 3 buzzes and then nothing. I have pulled the battery, I even pulled it and left it out for about 5 hours...nothing. Any ideas? My computer won't recognize it nor will the charge led turn on when plugged in.

I could of told you not to use the RUU. I have a nandroid backup you could of used, with only root, then you plug into superonecilck and that allows you unroot... Um ill look into this, i know that maybe try power and up vol, thats recovery mode. first pull battery, then key combo i mentoned, then go ahead and plug into computer, screne will be blank but its on (I ran my battery out this way lol

50 apps? Wow! I think I must be doing something wrong. I am using Link2sd, but still only have like 30 mb free with about 8 small apps installed. Anything I should check?

Luckily I have 30 days to return it to Best Buy, so I will be heading over there in an hour to get my replacement. :-[

I thought I read that the RUU was safe to use since it was for Virgin Mobile. Or having it S-off or something make it go awry?

The more you can uninstall from HTC Hub, the more data space you'll have. Link2SD lets you clear out app caches too.

What is RUU? Oh no it's not even for Virgin Mobile USA is it...

Our custom recovery is what messes up the file.
Link 2 sd requires you to have a second partition and you have to link them yourself
your welcome
Glad you got you a new phone, trying the tutorials again?:)
And you can easily use link 2 sd for space.also these were replied in the order posted.

Thanks for the feedback. do you think we should mention never to use the RUU file? and let me know if i can help you if you get any errors with the prl

That would have saved me a trip to Best Buy, LOL. But yeah that does sound like a good idea. I was able to get everything setup, even the .PRL, so i am all good to go. Everything works as you have it written.

Lol, Im adding it to the OP. Glad you got everything up and working. Without people like you, Id truly be nowhere in this. Thank you :)

Haha, you dont have to worry about bricking your phone. I always test myself with my pateted testing method on the more risky stuff "cross your fingers and pray like he**" Lol. I wont ever release anything that could brick a phone, with the instructions given:) Given the demand youve seen, do you think people would donate to me for the development, I quit my job and need some source lol besides fixing ipods and computers, that only goes so far in a month and takes away from android development
;)
